Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd undertook an excavation of approximately 0.90ha at Jubilee Park, King’s Ripton, Huntingdon, between 27th August and 11th October 2019, revealing evidence of Neolithic activity and three phases of agricultural use spanning the late Iron Age to post-medieval period. The late Iron Age activity comprised two phases of agricultural activity centred on a series of field boundaries. From the fill of one of the Iron Age ditches a copper alloy spiral ring was recovered. The Roman phase comprised a series of 75 shallow planting trenches, which may have been used for growing horticultural crops. These planting trenches form part of a wider network of planting trenches across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, and other parts of eastern England. During the medieval/post-medieval period the site remained a focus for cultivation. A number of furrows and a single field boundary were dated to this period. | ||||||
