Abstract: |
Assesses the potential of lithic scatters for archaeological interpretation. Outlines the history of lithic studies and the creation of the Scottish Lithic Scatters Project and the Lithic Scatters Database. Studies the processes behind the creation of lithic scatters, specifically in South and Central Scotland. Suggests that natural processes and human activity effect the lithic scatter and that, ultimately, it is the fieldwalker who creates the recorded scatter. |
