Abstract:
The first nine towns to be treated by the Scottish Burgh Survey are here published in the form of 'implications' reports to guide policy for future urban archaeological research, and to assist planning departments assessing redevelopment applications. Little or no archaeological work has been done in any of the nine towns so far, and the surveys accordingly concentrate on historic and street plan evidence and on the historic buildings.
