Abstract: |
Two small evaluation trenches on the site of a proposed hard standing for fire engines by the river, south of the castle mound, found some evidence for 17th/18th century landscaping beneath a considerable depth of modern hardcore connected with the recent footbridge. The archaeological effects of the hard standing would be slight since little of its proposed structure would penetrate this hardcore.[AIP] |
