Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of trenches for the renewal of gate piers at a cemetery, which was an extra-mural site used as a cemetery from the medieval period until modern times. It was suspected that subsidence of the existing gates was due to underlying graves. During the watching brief, the articulated remains of several human skeletons were encountered, and three skull fragments were found. The burials were assumed to have been of medieval or later date, although this could not be confirmed. [AIP] |
