Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was focussed on the initial site works at the proposed extension to a power station. The site works were divided into three stages, the creation of an access route, the stripping of the main construction site, and the excavation of foundation trenches. Investigation allowed archaeologists to construct a partial interpretation of the history and development of Ennis Veor, an abandoned settlement of medieval origin, it's desertion and ultimate destruction as a working farm holding. In particular a wide-ranging sample of material evidence was recovered that spanned, and perhaps extended the known working site of the settlement , covering the period from the 12th or 13th centuries to the 19th century.
