Abstract: |
An assessment was carried out in advance of development at the site, consisting of the demolition of old buildings and the construction of new ones. There were records of a number of buildings on the street frontage that potentially had medieval or late medieval origins. There were not thought to be any prehistoric remains, although the site's proximity to a river was noted as a possible find spot for such remains. The extant factory on the Loughborough Road frontage was thought to be of architectural value with its Art Deco styling. Overall there was seen to be more potential for remains, especially of the medieval and post-medieval periods, on the southern boundary of the proposed development area. [Au(abr)] |
