Abstract: |
An evaluation consisting of 32 trenches was undertaken at the proposed site of a new school and associated infrastructure. A number of medieval features (including ditches, gullies and possible post holes) were located at the northern side of the site. Such evidence was considered to indicate the presence of a farmstead with occupation spanning the mid 12th to 14th centuries based on the ceramic evidence. No prehistoric pottery was found, although four flint waste flakes (two retouched) were located. Further features containing 20th century material were found in the eastern part of the site.
