Abstract:
As part of the long term programme of work to improve the presentation of the Pendennis headland, it was proposed to recreate the 1627 Hornworks defences. A watching brief was maintained during the removal of the foundations of a SWEB sub-station, and during excavation of a drain behind the forward cross-rampart leading to a rock-cut soakaway beyond the reconstructed eastern bastion. No archaeological features or deposits were revealed in these areas. [Au(adp)]
