Abstract: |
The village is surrounded by an extensive series of sites that represents intensive and sustained activity dating from the Neolithic period onwards, and includes sites of national importance. An evaluation undertaken in advance of development revealed a late medieval ditch and deposits relating to post-medieval horticultural activity. Although no other significant remains were observed, and little artefactual evidence was recovered, the site none the less represented the first evidence of medieval settlement to come to light in this particular area.[AIP] |
