Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report Abstract:	A number of watching briefs were carried out during the Kerrier District Council shaft capping on a series of redundant mine shafts. The open shafts capped under contract 9B consisted of those which lay within proposed Scheduled Monuments or adjacent to Listed Buildings. The watching brief included the recording of the features of the shafts as work was undertaken upon them and revealed evidence for their construction, origins, use and adjacent features. [Au(adp)]
