Abstract: |
Refurbishment of a small mid 18th century house which lay close to the discovery of the remains of a colonaded Roman building provided an opportunity for an exploratory excavation in advance of minor underpinning work. There were no deposits under the cellar floors except for a thin spread of mortar with Roman pottery in it and an entirely robbed wall footing. The wall was undateable but its style suggested a medieval date. [AIP] |
