Abstract: |
Trenches were excavated to determine whether any elements of previous buildings on the site had survived below ground. Of the six trenches expected to have been excavated only two were possible due to the presence of concrete and use of the land for car-parking. The excavated trenches revealed only demolition material indicating that the building on the site had been demolished sometime after 1775. A watching brief was requested over development to the east of the house now standing on the site, but no further archaeological investigation was considered necessary on the development area north-west of the house.
