Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during the construction of an extension to the existing lake. A pit containing pottery of Late Iron Age and Romano-British date had been revealed during the construction of the original lake and the suggested alignment of the London-Lewes Roman road crossed the site. It also confirmed the existence of a compact metalling layer on the same alignment as that observed within the trial trenches of a previous evaluation. [Au(adp)] |
