Abstract: |
Archaeological excavations were undertaken prior to the construction of a new public convenience within an area of land that lay in the historic Roman and medieval core of Rochester. Features relating to post-medieval buildings and medieval pits were revealed as well as some sherds of residual Roman pottery. The excavations did not go deep enough to encounter known Roman remains although the need for further exacavtions was noted should an archaeologically unsympathetic foundation system be used. [AIP] |
