Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at two proposed development sites which lay on either side of a street. Within site 4, a shallow scoop and a post hole containing medieval pottery were recorded. A short length of wall foundation, tentatively equated with a boundary shown on a map of 1803, was found, and the remains of a truncated building, possibly of 15th-16th century date, were located. Pottery ranging in date from the 10th/12th century to the 19th century was recovered. Within site 5, a 19th century drain and cellar comprised the only surviving archaeological remains. [AIP] |
