Abstract: |
Three pits and a possible wall were observed during the watching brief. The pits all appeared late, with those in the south probably post-dating a cobbled surface, which is probably of late nineteenth century date. Although only one dressed sandstone block was observed within the trench, its positioning at the southern end of a secondary area of cobbling suggested that it may have formed the southern wall of a structure. It was not clear from the documentary evidence which building the possible wall may have related to but given its narrow width, it was most probably either an internal wall, or post-medieval in date.
