Abstract: |
Documentary research showed the area to have operated as a tailings recovery works in the 19th century; an industry carried out until recently, when the land and buildings became used as slate works. A possibility remained that some of the assessment area was used by the Tuckingmill gasworks, known to have operated just to the east of the site. Subsequent fieldwork indicated that little survived which reflected the earlier tailings recovery works, with the exception of a wheel pit, a sluice and a small stone building. [Au] |
