Abstract: |
A total of sixteen sites were identified within the study area, of which three sites would be directly affected by the gas supply pipeline. These comprised a ridge and furrow system on the fringes of the village of East Halton. A second area of ridge and furrow cultivation remains was located to the east of Thornton Abbey. The construction of the pipeline may also have a minor impact on the setting of Thornton Abbey. Other areas of archaeological potential were also identified where there is no current record of archaeological activity. [Au(abr)] |
