Abstract: |
Six evaluation trenches were excavated on land to the north of the Village Hall. Trenches 1 and 2, in the northern part of the site did not contain any archaeological features but showed a build-up of colluvial deposits. Trench 4, in the eastern part of the site also contained evidence for colluviation. The excavation of Trenches 3 and 5, in the centre, revealed a sequence of chalk-built structures of the 12/13th century and later medieval period, cut features of a similar date were recorded in Trench 6 at the extreme south.
