Abstract: |
The evaluation was undertaken as part of a wider programme of archaeological investigation along the route of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. A total of five trenches were excavated. Four were devoid of any archaeological features and one trench contained the remains of a collapsed stone wall and a fragment of chalk floor. An OS map of 1867 showed a 'non domestic building' in the same location as this collapsed wall. The stone wall and the rammed chalk floor were entirely in keeping with the sort of building that would be used for livestock. [Au(abr)] |
