Abstract: |
Five test pits were excavated to investigate structural cracking in the church. Examination of the test pits revealed evidence for the south aisle floor still surviving under the graveyard soil, possible traces of the north aisle and different phasing of building between the nave and the chancel. There was no clear evidence to date accurately the demolition of the aisles. It also showed the presence of a large slab which probably linked by mortar to the chancel wall. A number of knapped flints found in the soil could have been prehistoric. [Au(adp)] |
