Abstract: |
Trenches 1 and 3 contained no archaeological features. The archaeology found in the remaining trenches however, consisted largely of pits and ditches. These were thought to have dated from the Late pre- Roman Iron Age and the early Roman period. The presence of opus signinum within trench 5, the ridge tile, and domestic waste material, suggested that there was settlement activity in the immediate area. The nature of the occupation could not be determined as there was no physical evidence for any structures or buiding foundations. However, the presence of building material almost means that there must have been some form of building located nearby.[Au(abr)] |
