Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of the proposed site of a bungalow identified that several Mesolithic artefacts had been found to the north of the site, and that a Late Bronze Age urn had been found to the north-east. A Romano-British cemetery had been excavated to the north, and the former site of a telegraph station, built in 1821, lay to the south. Cartographic evidence indicated that the proposal site had not been developed at any stage, but appeared to have been a rear garden plot for houses fronting onto Petworth Road. It was recommended that trial trenching should be carried out. [AIP] |
