Abstract: |
A total of over 280 features were excavated, most containing datable material. These included: three ring ditches, possibly dating between the Late Bronze Age and early Iron Age; four rectangular enclosures, possibly dating to the early-late Iron Age; a large, rectangular palisade enclosure, possibly dating to the Early Iron Age. The excavation of West Field proved that an ancient settlement of some size once existed at Kemsley. Although the dating was highly provisional, it was possible that the settlement remained in use from c.1200BC to perhaps 500BC. [Au(adp)] |
