Abstract: |
The works discovered that 'building 3' clearly represented the remains of at least two and probably three substantial medieval buildings. No dating evidence was recovered and almost nothing was known of the history of the priory that would have provided a context for expansion or rebuilding. The lack of plinths or offsets, and the deep projection and width of the butresses, suggested a date in the 13th or 14th century rather than the 15th or 16th centuries. [Au(abr)] |
