Abstract: |
A watching brief conducted behind the Late Saxon Sea Bank at Wisbech road, alongside footings and drainage excavations for a new bungalow, revealed burnt silt deposits and organic lenses that contained fired clay and early medieval pottery. Accumulated layers of natural silt were recorded but no elements of the Bank itself, either intact or eroded were seen. No stratigraphy was identified to determine the relationship between the Bank and the deposits exposed by contractors' excavations. [Au(abr)] |
