Abstract: |
Excavation in advance of the construction of a crematorium revealed a number of features comprising mainly pits and curved linear features of unknown function (although some of the more substantial pits may have served as quarry-holes). Large quantities of struck flint was present in the topsoil, although few finds were recovered from the cut features. It was suggested that the features, at least morphologically, were reminiscent of prehistoric features found during excavation along the route of the A41 Kings Langley and Berkhampsted bypasses, and were potentially represented occupation of possible late Beaker or Bronze Age date.
