Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken after the evaluation of the site by Wessex Archaeology. The watching brief confirmed, expanded, clarified, and in some cases, modified observations made during the excavation, and provided information on previously unknown deposits. Deposits ranging from prehistoric to twentieth century were encountered. Particularly important information was gathered regarding the Saxon and medieval defences. The watching brief also confirmed the survival of archaeologically significant deposits extending beyond the current development area. [Au(abr)] |
