Abstract: |
The archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the stabilisation works to the south side of the Norman motte. The works recovered archaeological information from sample cores and surface excavation concerning the structure and composition of the Norman motte, as well as the nature of a Saxon-Norman buried soil beneath the motte. The works also revealed part of a post medieval back block to the rear of the house and terraces on the motte side. Residual prehistoric finds suggested prehistoric activity and possible settlement on the site or in the near vicinity. [Au(abr)] |
