Abstract: |
Thirty-one trenches were excavated across the site. The evaluation revealed remains of the Roman town wall with associated land surfaces and features, including burials of probable Roman date and the medieval river wall and associated surfaces and wharfage, and extensive post-medieval revetments, docks and other structural remains. In most trenches, extensive Holocene alluvial deposits were encountered, within which artefacts and features of all periods in the town's history were represented. [Au(abr)] |
