Abstract: |
An archaeological survey was carried out on two ruined buildings and the remains of a small dressing floor on Grassington moor. One building is a roofless ruined two cell, two storey structure built in the 1730s or 1740s measuring 9.7 metres long and 5.8 metres wide. The other building being a single storey, single celled mineshop adjacent Old Moss mine, possibly dating from the latter part of the 18th century but bearing characteristics of 19th century ancillary industrial buildings of the region. The small dressing floor has a ruined circular bouse-team, approximately 4 metres in diameter and a barrow run to the rear. The survey also recorded an infilled shaft and several waste deposts, this complex probably dates to the early part of the 19th century. [Au(abr)] |
