Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for an amenity and office block at a bonemeal factory at the edge of the village of Low Marnham. The local church dated from the 13th century, and the village had been mentioned in the Domesday survey as having a mill and a fishery. Indications of unidentified earthworks in the area had been noted in the Victoria County History of 1906. These may have been flood banks, but could also have represented part of an earlier surviving landscape relating to the River Trent. During the watching brief, no features or artefcts of archaeological interest were observed. [AIP] |
