Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed intense archaeological activity in Area 1, principally in the 1st/2nd century AD. Possible enclosure ditches had been frequently re-cut and contained large quantities of pottery. A possibly buried soil/occupation later over 10m long was exposed within a possible enclosure. Part of a human skull was recovered from a gully and pits contained cremated human bone and charcoal. Over 50kg of artefacts, including a bow broach and part of a probable armlet, were recovered.
