Abstract: |
A watching brief was held over landscaping works within Ashton Manor moated site, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The manor house is also a Grade II Listed Building of largely 17th century date. Ground disturbance was confined to the removal of existing tarmac surfaces and underlying bedding materials. A new gravelled hardstanding in the former garden to the north of the manor house was constructed directly upon the existing ground surface. Groundwork was restricted to the removal of modern deposits, any archaeology that may have been present was untouched. [AIP] |
