Abstract: |
This project was the culmination of works chiefly carried out in 2001. Despite the position of the barn in the centre of the old village of Davington, little of archaeological interest was revealed either beneath the barn or in the immediate vicinity. 19th century bottle glass and pottery sherds were found in deposits beneath the barn. However, the barn itself was of clear late 17th/early 18th century date. From this, it was assumed that the barn had at some point been dismantled and re-erected at this site. [Au(abr)] |
