Abstract: |
The watching brief took place over various locations in the town as a result of the installation of a closed-circuit television sysem. Twelve pits were monitored, of which five produced archaeological remains. Three gravel and flint road surfaces, dated to around 1750-1830 were identified in one pit, along with a clay pipe. More road surfaces or a similar type were found in another pit. Walls were encountered, thought to be from a modern man-hole. Gravel-bed roads were also found. [Au(adp)] |
