Abstract: |
The evaluation involved the machine excavation of 16 trenches in advance of a proposed new tennis centre. No significant archaeological features were observed and there was virtually no recovery of residual artefactual material. This suggested that there was never any significant occupation of the area investigated. The only cut features observed were a service trench, a large probably recent chalk quarry in the southern part of the site and a number of linear hollows served as access tracks to the quarry. A residual Neolithic leaf shaped arrowhead was recovered from the surface. [Au(adp)] |
