Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of a small test pit within the basement of the existing building. The test pit showed that despite construction in the early 1980s at least some fragments of medieval or post-medieval cellars might have survived in the area of the southern party wall. The proposed redevelopment of the site would not require any strengthening of the existing foundations or below slab excavations. Therefore the fragments of earlier cellar walls and foundations should not be at risk. [Au(abr)] |
