Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during improvements to the drainage surrounding the church. The church was first mentioned in AD 1230, of which nothing survived above ground. The sub rectangular churchyard, and dedication to a universal saint supported a Post-Conquest foundation. Very little remained of the later medieval church, rebuilding in 1875 being the cause of this. Very little of archaeological interest was revealed, however a few insights were obtained. The considerable depth of archaeological stratification suggested that the archaeological potential around the church was high and future disturbance of the ground should be closely monitored.
