Abstract: |
<summary>Excavation was undertaken prior to repair work at the spring, which was the source of a piped water supply established by the Franciscans early in the 14th century. The monument comprises three interconnected, subterranean chambers. Excavation was above and to the north of the northernmost chamber. Internally rectangular in plan, it had been built in a very large construction pit; the finds recovered indicated a medieval date for its backfilling.
