Abstract: |
<summary>Evaluative excavation was carried out by York Archaeological Trust; five trenches were opened. These revealed well-stratified levels of 13th and 14th century date and garden soil build-up dating back to the 11th/12th century. Two of the trenches showed that all archaeological levels had been destroyed by buildings. The fifth trench was abandoned. In addition, a series of 19 boreholes was sunk, and 13 soil samples taken for analysis. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
