Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken at the Gwithian Tailings Works as part of a series of amenity works to the derelict industrial site. A south-west to north-east running ditch was to be cut to replace the former inadequate arrangements, bisecting the site and potentially exposing sub-surface deposits. The watching brief failed to reveal anything of archaeological significance although features relating to the part use of the site in the shape of broken railway sleepers and tin slimes were revealed on the surface. Previous development work in the 1970s was blamed for the apparent lack of an archaeological resource. [AIP] |
