Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was carried out. The current standing building at West Barr dated to 1794. Those on Lambert Street included a public house, domestic dwellings and a small cutlery works which was recorded from 1839 to the first decade of the 20th century. Most of the buildings on Lambert Street were demolished in the mid 20th century and then used as parking and loading bays. The shops at West Barr survived until the late 20th century and were then demolished. The surviving building was currently used as offices with adjacent plots used as parking and display areas. Survival of archaeology was deemed to be high. [Au(adp)] |
