Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during a programme of repairs on the east and south elevations of the East Range and the installation of rainwater hoods around the whole building. A number of structural features and elements were observed and recorded, including the east chimney pots and chimney stack, the chimney pots at the junction of the East Range and Tower, the crenellated parapet and straight bay window and other features of the east elevation, the south gable, the south external plinth wall of the Great Hall, and the north junction of the Great Hall with the Buttery.
