Abstract: |
A blockage in a field drain, led to fears about possible degradation to the monument through waterlogging. Two trial trenches were excavated within the ditch of the Vallum. These revealed a series of water-lain clays and peat, which largely infilled the ditch over the intervening years. These sediments were identified as having high potential for environmental evidence.
