Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a single dwelling which lay immediately to the north of a walled garden dating from c. 1740, within the Copped Hall Estate. Medieval buildings were likely to have lain to the east. The site itself was thought to have remained undeveloped until the later 19th century, when a glasshouse had been built on its eastern edge. Further glasshouses had later been added. During the evaluation, the remains of three glasshouses were recorded, whilst a 19th century pit and a small amount of burnt material were noted. No earlier artefacts or features were found. [AIP] |
