Abstract: |
The assessment identified that the site lay on the fringes of the medieval town, and that there had been no significant archaeological investigation of the historic core. No monuments, sites or archaeological findspots were recorded from within the development boundary. The majority of the development area was situated within land recorded as orchard until well into the present century. One area was identified that may have contained features relating to the medieval town, it consisted of part of the High Street frontage and its associated backlands. [AIP] |
