Abstract: |
Excavations revealed a number of relatively recent features including a drain filled with refuse, and a water pipe. Two main deposits lay by the natural, the upper being dated by its finds to the mid-19th century, although there was evidence for prehistoric activity on the site. The finds numbered in excess of 3000, and dated mainly to the 19th century, with significant numbers from the 18th and 20th centuries. Finds of other periods included the butt end of a Neolithic polished stone axe and a coin from the mid sixteenth century. [Au(abr)] |
