Abstract: |
<summary>Substantial 19th and 20th century deposits overlying earlier gravelly layers of uncertain significance were discovered during the excavations. Investigation in the accessible parts of the High Street frontage yielded no evidence of pre-18th century structures, but excavation there was less extensive than was desirable. The stratigraphy in the northern part of the site was found to be relatively shallow, and appeared to be devoid of early features. Recommendations for the maximum depth to be excavated were made, and also, that further works should be preceded by an archaeological watching brief. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
